Cane Wrench
I always have had a hard time getting cane tips off when I either need to replace one, or change to another type of tip.  The other day I came upon a method that works quite well.  I found that the open end of a 14 milemeter box wrench (I think its called that)  pictured below on the left.  On the right is a short movie that shows the process. Be paitent until the movie downloads -- could take a few seconds (or minutes if you have dialup.)   I think you must have QuickTime installed to watch this movie, but I am not sure.  Just in case you can't,  the end of the 14 milimeter wrench fits nicely over the shaft of a standard cane.  I f it is slid down quickly until it contacts the rim of the tip a few times, the tip pops off quite easily.
